Criminal justice careers have some disadvantages and even if they are not many they can affect the decision of someone getting into this industry. The disadvantages of these types of careers include pay rates, physical demand, abnormal work hours and depression. Some people do not believe that the salaries for criminal justice careers are enough, due to the many risks that they involve and the many problems that they can cause. It is a fact that people who are involved in some of these careers, need to be in better physical condition than others, because they need to persecute criminals and sometimes this might be on foot.
Many of the criminal justice careers involve very abnormal work hours and this can certainly be a disadvantage for many people. Not everyone is accustomed to working during hours that others are not and this can really be a major factor, why some decide to not get involved in this type of careers. Depression is very common amongst people who work in criminal justice careers, due to seeing so many deaths and criminal activity. These disadvantages should definitely be considered before signing up for one of these careers.
